VAT Relief

This guide will help you understand who is and who is not eligible to claim VAT Relief from products purchased on this website.

Who is eligible for Vat relief?

You qualify for the relief if you have a disability or a long-term illness (but please note the definition of this below) and you're buying the product for your own personal or domestic use.

You don't have to buy the goods yourself. If your parent, guardian or spouse buys the goods or services for you, then you won't be charged VAT.

What counts as a long-term illness or disability?

For VAT purposes, you have a disability or long-term illness if you meet any of the following conditions:

You have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon your ability to carry out everyday activities
• you have a condition that the medical profession treats as a long-term illness, such as diabetes
• you are terminally ill

So, you won't qualify if you're elderly but otherwise able-bodied, or if you're only temporarily disabled such as having a broken leg.

Which conditions are considered to be long-term illnesses?

You're eligible for the VAT relief if you have one of the following conditions:

    • Arthritis
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Diabetes

    • Epilepsy

    • Hypertension
    • Kidney Disease

How do I know if I qualify and what proof do I need to provide

In order to be VAT exempt and pay no VAT on your purchase, the government requires a simple declaration to be made as to the nature of your disability at the time of ordering. No proof of your disability need be shown at any party at any time.

Its very easy to claim VAT relief, all we need to know is the name, address & disability of the person the item is for & what their chronic sickness or disability is. We don’t need a doctor’s letter or any reference numbers.

The above information can be provided during the online checkout or if you order by phone or post we will send you a form & a freepost return envelope asking you for the above information.

Please remember VAT Rules

We do NOT decide if an item is or isn’t exempt and we don’t make any more or less money if we charge you VAT or we don’t charge you VAT. This is a collection of taxes for HMRC.

If you do not complete the VAT form, or you are not eligible for VAT relief we are obliged to charge you the full prevailing VAT on the whole of your order.

Not all products are eligible for VAT relief, so we are obliged to charge VAT at the prevailing rate for those products that are VAT exempt, even after you complete this form.
